1200mm x 40mm stained Blackbutt hardwood handle is tough and solid.
Base plate is made from 8mm thick steel 210mm  x 210mm. Reinforced to ensure it will never break. 
Base plate is rounded on one edge to get into those tricky spots along retaining walls or corrugated iron etc. 
Only weighing 5.5kg but built tough will last forever. 
Can make custom hand tampers to your requirements.
